william & marySenior Terry Tarpey and junior Omar Prewitt each recorded double-doubles as the William & Mary men’s basketball upended Hampton, 86-67, in a Thanksgiving Eve tilt at Kaplan Arena.

The Green and Gold limited the Pirates to just 33.3 percent shooting, and led by as much as 27 points in the second half of a game it controlled throughout. W&M won for the fourth time in its first five games, including three contests against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams, while Hampton, which won the MEAC last season, fell to 2-2.

Tarpey pulled down a career-high 17 points, the most for a Tribe player in 20 years, while tallying 13 points, three assists, three blocked shots and three steals. Prewitt shared team-high scoring honors with junior Daniel Dixon as both players poured in 22 points.

Prewitt added 10 rebounds for his second career double-double, and with Tarpey, became the first pair of Tribe teammates to register a double-double in the same game since 2004. Prewitt was 7-of-11 from the floor, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, to go along with 6-of-7 from the free throw line. For the second straight game, Dixon topped the 20-point mark, finishing 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-7 from 3-point range. He also blocked a career-high five shots, and as the team, the Tribe finished with 13 rejections, the fourth most in school history.
