William & Mary adds four-star wide receiver transfer

AFP

william & maryThe William & Mary football program announced this afternoon that it has added transfer wide receiver Jalen Christian, who comes to the Tribe from the University of South Carolina and will enroll in classes this July.

One of the nation’s top prep players at Damascus (Md.) High School, Christian redshirted as a true freshman at South Carolina last season.

A four-year varsity starter as a receiver, defensive back and kick returner, Christian helped DHS post a 13-1 record as a senior en route to garnering 2015 Semper Fidelis All-America distinction.

Rated as a consensus four-star prospect coming out of high school, he ranked among the top 40 wideouts nationally by multiple scouting services – ESPN (No. 29), Scout (No. 33), Rivals (No. 38). Additionally, he was rated the No. 7 “athlete” in the country and the No. 105 player overall by 247Sports.

Christian will have four years of eligibility remaining at W&M.

W&M enters the 2016 campaign looking to build off its tremendous success from last fall when it claimed a share of the Colonial Athletic Association title, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs and concluded the year ranked 12th in the country.

The Tribe will open its 2016 slate at NC State on Sept. 1. W&M’s home opener in the renovated Zable Stadium will be against Norfolk State on Sept. 17.
