Waynesboro YMCA Childcare kids build computers

waynesboro ymca childcare computersAside from soaking in the sun and participating in fun activities this summer, Group C has been building computers to use at the Waynesboro YMCA.

Every Wednesday for an hour, the pre-teens build these complex machines.

“It’s a lot of fun!” exclaimed one child, Alex. “We get to learn stuff and build stuff!” he said.

These computers, funded by a grant from Dominion, will be used in childcare at the Y for homework and to learn about various educational topics.  Along with having fun while building the computers, the children also learn an extensive amount of knowledge about building computers and computer terminology.

When asked what his favorite part was during the computer building experience, one child named Julia said, “I like to learn new stuff about computers. Putting the motherboard in was probably my favorite part because it was complicated and I enjoy being challenged.”

The students presented their computers and talked about their experiences on August 3.
