Score one for the underdogs – nTelos Wireless is now the exclusive wireless provider of Virginia Tech football.
“We are pleased to partner with nTelos for our upcoming football season – and we are looking forward to the co-promotional opportunities the sponsorship includes, and to endorsing the nTelos brand,” Virginia Tech athletics director Jim Weaver said in making the announcement of the partnership, which begins with the Hokies’ season opener at home against East Carolina on Sept. 1.
The arrangement will provide support for student-athletes across all 21 Virginia Tech athletics programs, Weaver said.
As part of the arrangement, Tech football coach Frank Beamer will be featured in a series of television spots that will air during the football season this fall. The commercials will have Beamer finding money everywhere he looks in a riff on the nTelos brand message, “No One Else Compares.”
nTelos is also sponsoring a Pass for Cash promotion that will take place during the Nov. 10 home game against Florida State that will give two lucky fans a chance to win fantasy vacations and nTelos bucks.
“nTelos is a very strong supporter of Virginia Tech and has worked with the school for several years,” nTelos Wireless president Carl Rosberg said. “Stepping into the role of exclusive wireless provider for the football program is a major opportunity for us and we are proud to provide Coach Beamer and his staff with the best available wireless service. As a Top 20 team, we know they’re only going to work with a brand they can rely on.”
