Waynesboro Senior Center Weekly Report

Chris Graham

Our new Diabetes Support Group will meet at 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. That is on May 10th this month. This is being led by new volunteer nurse Kristi Williams, RN. Diabetes education is one of her specialties. We encourage any seniors in the community that have diabetes to try to attend this support group. You will learn ways to live well even with this disease and to manage your risk factors for complications. You will also share and learn with others living with diabetes.

Glucose Checks

Kristi will also do glucose checks in the morning before the support group meets. She will start that at 9:00a.m. This is a FREE service. Remember for the most accurate results—fast for 8 hours before the check.

Weekly Menu

MONDAY: Meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, brussels sprouts, hot spiced fruit
TUESDAY: Spaghetti, broccoli, tossed salad, fruit
WEDNESDAY: Potato crunch pollock, scalloped potatoes, green beans, fruit cocktail
THURSDAY: Oven fried chicken, chuckwagon corn, stewed tomatoes, fruit
FRIDAY: Pork patty, pinto beans, greens, cookies

Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. each day. All meals are served with milk and bread and provide one-third of the daily nutrition value required for adults. Call 540.942.1838 to make reservations by 10 a.m. on the day you plan to attend.

About the Senior Center

The Waynesboro Senior Center, sponsored by Valley Program for Aging Services, invites people 60 years of age and older to participate in a variety of programs to be offered in the coming week. The center, at 325 Pine Ave., in the Jackson-Wilson building, is open 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Transportation is provided as needed by a VPAS van driver, who also helps with shopping trips and appointments to local doctors. Contributions toward expenses are accepted.
