Waynesboro Police seek wanted local woman

Update: Monday, 10:48 a.m. Officers arrested Mary Christine Herring this morning at approximately 9:30 a.m. when she showed up for a meeting with her probation officer in Waynesboro.  She is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

 

Original Post: Sunday, 11:13 a.m. The Waynesboro Police Department is requesting assistance in locating a wanted woman, Mary Christine Herring, 49 years old. She is also known as Mary Christine Collins. She is wanted on nine felonies.

In April of last year, Herring stole checks belonging to a family member and passed them fraudulently at local banks.  She was able to steal $1,000 from her family member’s account.  Herring already has felony convictions for check fraud from 2013 and was arrested last February for stealing an acquaintance’s credit card while he was hospitalized.  She is a career swindler.

She is wanted on the following felony charges:

  • three counts of Larceny of a Check
  • three counts of Passing a Forged Check
  • three counts of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses

Herring’s last known address is Barboursville in Albemarle County.  She is described as:

  • W/F
  • 5’6”
  • 138 lbs
  • Brown Hair
  • Green Eyes

Anyone with information of Herring’s whereabouts in this case is asked to the Waynesboro Police Department at (540) 942-6675 or Central Shenandoah Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 322-2017.  Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously.  Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
