policecar3The Waynesboro Police Department is participating in several upcoming activities for in support of Special Olympics of Virginia.

On Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at  Walmart, 116 Lucy Lane, Waynesboro, the PD is hosting a Cover the Cruiser Fundraiser.  The goal is to take a police cruiser and get it completely covered with donation cards from the community.

That event will also include a Bake Sale that will include hot dog and pizza sales – with all proceeds going to Special Olympics

Also, a BMW 1100 Motorcycle donated by former Waynesboro prosecutor Tommy Weidner will be on display.  Proceeds from the sale of the bike will benefit Special Olympics.

Friday is also National Peace Officer’s Day honoring our fallen brothers and sisters.  The police department has chosen this day as an opportunity to give back to community by raising money for the Special Olympics.

On Thursday, June 4, the department is taking part in the Valley leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Members of the Waynesboro Police Department, Waynesboro Sheriff’s Office, and members from the Waynesboro High School Cross Country Team and other community members will all be participating.
