Waynesboro man charged with child sexual assault

A Waynesboro man is in custody on charges involving the sexual abuse of a pre-teen girl.

Thomas Clagett Bowling, 71, who resides in Waynesboro and also in California, according to police, was arrested on three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of object sexual penetration, and is currently being held at Middle River Regional Jail.

Waynesboro Police were alerted to possible child sexual abuse at a Florence Avenue residence on Friday, according to a news release.

A female child under the age of 13 visiting from out of state reported that a family friend had sexually assaulted her several times between June 13 and June 15.
