Update: Thursday, 3:16 p.m. All charges against Daryl Wayne Reese of Waynesboro have been dropped after further investigation by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office revealed that a robbery purportedly perpetrated by Reese did not occur as originally reported.

Reese has subsequently been released from custody, per a release from the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon.

A warrant for filing a false report has been obtained on the reporting party, whose name is not being released at this time.

Editorial comment: it should be released.

This guy’s name got dragged through the mud for a false report.
