Washington signs linebacker Everette Brown

redskins_scriptrWashington announced today that they have signed free agent linebacker Everette Brown and placed linebacker Brian Orakpo on the team’s Reserve/Injured list.

Brown (6-1, 263) rejoins the team, with whom he spent the preseason after being signed as a free agent onJuly 28 before being released on August 30. He was originally selected by the Carolina Panthers in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft and has appeared in 38 career games with three starts with the Panthers (2009-11), San Diego Chargers (2011-12) and Dallas Cowboys (2013). Brown has also spent time on the rosters of the Detroit Lions (2012) and Philadelphia Eagles (2013).

For his career, Brown has recorded 59 tackles (42 solo) with seven sacks, four forced fumbles, three passes defensed and an interception. Last season, he appeared in seven games for the Cowboys and notched a sack in his season debut vs. Minnesota in Week 9.

Orakpo (6-4, 257) was in his sixth NFL season after being drafted by Washington in the first round (13th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
