The Washington Nationals landed Toronto Blue Jays center fielder Ben Revere in a trade for former closer Drew Storen, the team announced on Friday.

Revere, 27, had a .306/.342/.377 slash line in 152 games with the Blue Jays and Philadelphia in 2015, with 181 hits, two homers, 45 RBIs, 31 stolen bases and 84 runs scored.

The addition of Revere makes up for the loss of center fielder Denard Span (.301/.365/.431 in 2015), who signed a free-agent deal with San Francisco this week.

Storen, 28, was expendable after a disastrous second half in 2015. The righty had a 6.75 ERA after the Nats acquired Jonathon Papelbon and made him the closer on July 30.

To that point, Storen had posted a 1.89 ERA and saved 29 games for Washington.
