Chris Graham

vmiVMI currently has five long-time players on professional rosters throughout the country. All statistics and information are based on June 6 availability.

Mike Devine, RHP

  • Current Club: Lake Erie Crushers, Frontier League (Independent)
  • Last Season with VMI: 2012
  • Drafted: None
  • Current Status: Long-time independent ball veteran Devine is enjoying perhaps his best season ever, as he has returned to the bullpen and is 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA in the early going of the Frontier League season. It is the first year since joining the league that Devine has spent back to back seasons in the bullpen.

Reed Garrett, RHP

  • Current Club: Frisco Roughriders, Texas League (Texas Rangers)
  • Last Season With VMI: 2014
  • Drafted: 2014, Round 16 by Texas Rangers
  • Current Status: Garrett has been in and out of the rotation this season for AA Frisco, posting a 1-0 record and a 4.37 ERA for the AA affiliate of the Rangers. He has made four starts, including picking up his first AA victory in a May 16 win over Midland, and has held opponents to a .240 average. Interestingly, one of Garrett’s teammates is former Citadel C/OF Joe Jackson.

Adam Lopez, RHP

  • Current Club: Southern Illinois Miners, Frontier League (Independent)
  • Drafted: 2012, Round 21 by Chicago White Sox
  • Last Season With VMI: 2012
  • Current Status: After a Frontier League Pitcher of the Year season that earned him a brief signing with the Seattle Mariners during the season, Lopez rejoined the Miners late last season. He was then signed over the winter by San Diego, but was released shortly thereafter. He is currently listed as being on the Miners’ disabled list.

Jordan Tarsovich, IF

  • Current Club: Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, California League (LA Dodgers)
  • Last Season With VMI: 2015
  • Drafted: 2015, Round 22 by Los Angeles Dodgers
  • Current Status: Tarsovich has been quite busy over the past two seasons, as he has seen action for five different teams at multiple levels. After hitting .269 in his first professional season that saw him advance to the Midwest League, Tarsovich has gotten as far as Double-A this year. He played in three games for the Tulsa Drillers and went 2 for 8 before returning to the California League, where he is currently hitting .232

Matt Winn, C

  • Current Club: Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League (SF Giants)
  • Last Season With VMI: 2015
  • Drafted: 2015, Round 14 by San Francisco Giants
  • Current Status: After opening the season with the AA Richmond Flying Squirrels in his hometown, Winn was sent down to the South Atlantic League’s Augusta GreenJackets on April 28. He has hit .236 with five home runs in the full season A-Ball league, where he is teammates with former first round pick pitcher Phil Bickford.
