The team sent Nick Martinez from the major league staff to Double-A, making room for Garrett on the Express squad.

Garrett was the starting pitcher against the Memphis Redbirds, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, on the ninth in a game played in Memphis. He allowed four runs on eight hits and took the loss.

By pitching at Triple-A, Garrett becomes the first player drafted out of VMI to reach that level since Trey Barham pitched for the Sacramento River Cats in 2012.
