Chris Graham
virginia malcolm brogdonVirginia senior guard Malcolm Brogdon (Atlanta, Ga.) has been voted the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Cavaliers in a pair of games against ranked foes last week.
Brogdon averaged 27 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in Virginia’s games last week against then-No. 7 North Carolina and then-No. 12 Miami. He posted 26 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the Cavaliers to a 79-74 win over North Carolina on Saturday night.
Last Monday at then-No. 12 Miami, he matched a career high with 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting (4-of-7 on 3-pointers) in the Cavaliers’ 64-61 road loss.
This is Brogdon’s second ACC Player of the Week honor this year. He earned the distinction three weeks ago as well (Feb. 8) following wins over Boston College and Pitt.
This is the Cavaliers’ third ACC Player of the Week honoree of the season, as Anthony Gill was tabbed on Dec. 14. ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a 15-member media panel.
No. 4 Virginia (22-6, 11-5 ACC) plays Clemson at 7 p.m. Tuesday (March 1) in Greenville, S.C. ESPNU will televise the contest.
