vatechA Paul Griggs 34-yard field goal brought Purdue into a 17-17 tie with 2:24 to go in the first half. Virginia Tech would go on to score 27 unanswered points to take control en route to posting a 51-24 win on Saturday.

The Hokies (2-1) got another solid performance from quarterback Brenden Motley, who was 15-for-23 passing for 220 yards and two touchdowns. In two starts since replacing injured starter Michael Brewer, Motley is 35-for-56 passing for 489 yards, five touchdowns, one interception, and a quarterback rating of 163.0.

Tech used a little Beamer Ball to add to their onslaught, getting a score on a blocked punt and a fumble return.

The defense was stout, limiting the Boilermakers to 265 yards of total offense and 4.1 yards per play, and harassing Purdue quarterback Austin Appleby, who was 9-for-28 passing for 110 yards, two interceptions and two sacks.
