michael brewerVirginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer has been cleared to practice and will be a game-time decision for the Hokies’ key ACC game Friday night against N.C. State.

Brewer was injured in Tech’s 42-17 loss in the season opener on Sept. 7 against top-ranked Ohio State. Backup Brenden Motley has performed admirably in Brewer’s absence, but Motley was dinged up on Saturday in a 17-13 loss to Pitt while taking seven sacks in the rain and wind in Lane Stadium.

In five games, including four starts, Motley was 64-for-112 passing (57.1 percent) for 861 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions, with a 133.4 passer rating.

Brewer, in 27 career games, including 13 at Texas Tech in 2012-2013, and 14 at Virginia Tech in 2014-2015, is 314-for-515 passing (61.0 percent) for 3,288 yards, 25 TDs and 15 INTs, with a 124.8 passer rating.
