The Virginia State Police trooper injured this morning has been released from the hospital.
The driver of the SUV, Candace C. Skinker, of Marshall, has been charged with reckless driving, according to an update from VSP.
There were no injuries in the initial crash.
Charges are pending after a Virginia State Police trooper was injured while responding to a crash scene in Fairfax on Interstate 66 this morning.
The trooper was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
According to VSP, the crash occurred at approximately 6:40 a.m. on I-66 eastbound near the Capital Beltway.
The trooper was working a crash that had occurred between a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle. This crash was obstructing the left lane of the interstate and the right lane of the express lanes.
The trooper was inside their vehicle in the right express lane with emergency lights on when the vehicle was struck by a Lexus SUV.
The driver of the SUV and a passenger were also taken to an area hospital to be checked out. The name of the driver of the SUV has not been released.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
