virginia production allianceVirginia Production Alliance Executive Board officers and members were recently announced for the 2016-2017.

The board officers are Heather Waters, President; Lisa Giles, Vice President; David Sanderlin: Secretary; Brenda Moore: Treasurer and Terry Stroud: Legislative Chair.  The executive board members are Bill Armstrong, Tiffany Armstrong, Gwynne Brown, Donald “Spec” Campen, Jr., Scott Carter, Kahil Dotay, Trip Payne and Richard Travis.  Staff members include Peg Crowder: Membership Development Director and Sam Morgan: Administrative Coordinator.  The VPA’s mission is providing leadership and opportunity for the future of Virginia’s film and TV community.

According to VPA President Heather Waters, “In recent years, we’ve made big strides in growing film across the state of Virginia. Our goal for the coming year is to continue providing educational, networking, and advocacy platforms that can accelerate that growth across the state.  We’ll of course continue the advocacy efforts we do to bring productions like Mercy Street, Turn: Washington’s Spies, and Loving here because with them they bring valuable opportunities for local talent, tourism, and the economy.  However, we’ll also be exploring avenues this year that help local Virginia companies forge relationships that encourage the development of home grown talent.”

As also stated by the Virginia Film Office Director, Andrew Edmunds, “If you work in this industry, membership in the VPA is vital to create a collective voice to advocate for needed incentives to try to be competitive as a state…. and as a networking and educational resource for your career. We are proud of the ongoing series television work that is happening in the Commonwealth, including the 10th season of A Haunting from Virginia-based New Dominion Pictures that is coming up. Through series TV, indy film and VA-based content development and creation – we are on track for another record year.”
