Virginia Premier Health Plan Inc. announced a new healthcare product for 2017, Virginia Premier Elite (HMO SNP). Virginia Premier Elite is a Medicare-approved Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan that provides access to health care for those who receive both Medicare and Medicaid benefits.
Virginia Premier Elite is an innovative option for anyone in Virginia Premier’s service area who is eligible for both Medicare and full Medicaid. Specifically, Elite is available to anyone enrolled in:
- Medicare Parts A, B, and D; and
- Medicaid, either the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Plus (QMB+), or the Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary Plus (SLMB+) program.
In addition to receiving Medicare’s standard set of benefits, members of Virginia Premier Elite will have access to dental, vision, hearing, physical therapy services and more. Members will be given a care manager who will help them access all the care and coverage options offered by Medicare, Medicaid, and Virginia Premier’s network of over 10,000 providers. Many of these services, including coverage for various prescription drugs, will come at no cost to the member.
Enrollment starts immediately, and the plan will be active starting Jan. 1. Anyone seeking to enroll can contact Virginia Premier directly at 1-877-739-1370. Virginia Premier will immediately begin marketing Elite to all those in Virginia Premier’s service area who meet the eligibility requirements mentioned above. By coordinating the often-overlapping coverage provided by Medicare and Medicaid, Virginia Premier Elite will eliminate needless duplication and simplify health care for both members and providers. Members will have one point of contact to manage their appointments, tests, prescriptions, etc., and will have a unified appeals process for coverage decisions. Providers, meanwhile, will have one place to send bills, and will find it easier to coordinate care for a given member with other providers.
