Virginia Hall of Fame seeking student-athlete nominations

va hall of fameThe Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum is seeking nominations for its 10th annual Student-Athlete Achievement Awards. These awards honor high school students who demonstrate dedication on the field to their sport and off the field to their schoolwork and community. Nominations are due Monday, November 3, 2014 by 5 p.m.

Students from across Virginia in grades 9 through 12 are eligible. Nominations typically are submitted by teachers, coaches or parents. A committee of Hall of Fame Inductees and community leaders will select the finalists who will be honored at an awards banquet on December 7 in Portsmouth at the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame & Museum. On the night of the banquet, two Student-Athletes of the Year will be announced for each category.

These top athletes will be honored with an exhibit in the museum’s rotating exhibit “Virginians in the Spotlight” during the months of January and February 2015.
