Virginia Democrats on the anniversary of Medicare, Medicaid

AFP

healthcareToday marks the 49th anniversary of the passage of Medicare and Medicaid by President Lyndon B. Johnson. In response to this historic milestone, Virginia Democrats’ Executive Director Robert Dempsey released the following statement:

“Forty-nine years ago today, two of the most important pieces of healthcare legislation, Medicare and Medicaid, were signed into law. With their creation, these programs allow hard-working Americans to be granted access to the affordable healthcare they deserve to lead successful lives.

“Today, Virginia Democrats continue to advocate for our citizens that desperately need the resources and protection afforded by these programs.  While Virginia Republicans may be determined to block access to quality healthcare to hundreds of thousands of Virginians, we will not stop fighting on their behalf.”
