2016Veteran Virginia Republican campaign consultant Chris Leavitt has been tapped to lead Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s Virginia presidential campaign effort.

Leavitt served as campaign manager for Republican Senate nominee Ed Gillespie in 2014 and GOP attorney-general nominee Mark Obenshain in 2013. Both suffered narrow losses in their campaigns.

“I believe Gov. Walker is the leader our country needs in the White House. He is a fighter, a winner, and he’s proven time and time again that he won’t back down in the face of a challenge,” Leavitt said in a statement.

“I look forward to the opportunity to build upon his already strong base of support, spread his winning message, and work toward victory in 2016.”
