VDOT: Most roads in minor condition in Shenandoah Valley

Light snow continues to fall in the Shenandoah Valley leaving an inch or two in most areas. Roads throughout the area are in minor condition.

Motorists should expect wet roadway surfaces with patches of slush or ice. Temperatures are near the freezing mark, bringing the possibility of black ice or icy patches, particularly on elevated surfaces such as bridges and ramps.

With snow showers continuing motorists may experience limited visibility in areas of heavy snow bands. Travelers should allow extra time and drive with caution throughout the region.

Virginia Department of Transportation crews and contractors are deployed and treating roads as needed. Crews will remain out and continue to monitor roadways throughout the night.

For winter weather road conditions go to www.511Virginia.org, look at the orange bar on the top of the page and click on “Text Views” and then click on “Road Condition Table”. Look at the pull down box that lists all jurisdictions.  In this box individual counties can be chosen to view.
