
Joe Bamisile led four VCU players in double figures with a game-high 24 points, and the Rams forced 27 turnovers to pull away from Rhode Island on their way to an 81-57 win on Tuesday.
VCU (15-4, 5-1 A-10) has won five straight games.
Max Shulga added 15 points, three boards and a block for the Black and Gold.
Sebastian Thomas led Rhode Island (14-5, 3-4 A-10) with 19 points.
VCU’s lead was 42-40 with 13:38 remaining, but the Rams outscored Rhode Island 39-17 the rest of the way. Shulga buried a three-pointer, and Bamisile connected on back-to-back floaters in the lane, to help push VCU’s advantage to 55-43 with 10:35 left.
A short time later, a Shulga traditional three-point play helped ignite a 15-0 VCU run that pushed the margin into blowout territory at 71-48 with 5:11 on the clock.
