Valley Playhouse presents If There’s A Rock and Roll Heaven

AFP

RockAndRollHeaven_WebAfter the success of 2011’s The End Of The World As We Know It, local playwright and director Jay Zehr brings his newest comedy to the stage at Court Square Theater with the world premiere of If There’s A Rock And Roll Heaven. In this irreverent farce, rock legend Del Marvel of the Dinosaurs of Love is on his deathbed. His son Freddie is left to deal with a series of increasingly eccentric characters attempting to cash in on the estate while also trying to keep his own hilarious love life straight.

If There’s A Rock and Roll Heaven features a large cast of local theater veterans and newcomers including Rebecca Wishon Rogers, Douglas Alan Diehl, Howie Jeffries, Bill Bleecker, Elaina LaBerge, Kathleen Holter, Dennis Lee, Heidi Jablonski, Leah Moore and Brigid Banks. The show will also feature some new songs written and recorded for the production.

Jay Zehr has been acting, writing and directing plays since 1985. His last original show for the Playhouse was The End Of The World As We Know It in 2011 and he has also directed Last Night of Ballyhoo, Dearly Departed, Our Town and Kiss the Moon, Kiss the Sun at Court Square Theater. The Valley Playhouse has been providing opportunities to participate in theatrical productions in Harrisonburg since 1966. As a community theater, Valley Playhouse welcomes novice and experienced actors, and volunteers for staff positions or stage crew.
