Cal, which is good at drawing even, scored twice in the final seven minutes to erase a match-long deficit top-ranked Virginia, in a game that ended in a 2-2 draw on Thursday out west.

Cal now has seven draws in the 2025 season (6-2-7, 2-1-3 ACC).

UVA (10-0-2, 4-0-1 ACC) got out to a 2-0 lead on the strength of goals in the 13th and 15th minutes from Maggie Cagle and Lia Godfrey.

A video review in the 84th minute gave Cal a penalty kick, which was converted by Lumi Kostmayer.

The Bears tied it up four minutes later with a moon shot from 35 yards out from Soleil Dimry. Mia Fontana played the ball to her, and Dimry pulled up from long range and her arcing shot dropped in for the equalizer.

“Certainly, it was a disappointing result, but to be fair we kind of got what we deserved as we did not do enough on both ends of the field to get the result. We need to refocus our energy, though, and get ready for Sunday. It’s another game and another opportunity for our team,” UVA coach Steve Swanson said.

Kinda negative there, coach.

Anyway.

The West Coast trip wraps on Sunday at #3 Stanford (10-1-1, 4-0-1 ACC) at 4 p.m. ET.
