UVA redshirt senior center Jack Salt (Auckland, New Zealand) has been named to the New Zealand National Team for a pair of FIBA World Cup qualifying games.
Salt and the New Zealand Tall Blacks will play Hong Kong on Thursday, June 28 in Rotorua, New Zealand, and China on Sunday, July 1 in Auckland. The two contests will conclude the first round of World Cup qualifying with the second round slated for September.
The 6-10, 250-pound Salt has started 68 straight games at center for the Cavaliers. He averaged 3.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 2017-18. Salt anchored UVA’s top-ranked defense, which limited opponents to 54 points per game.
