uva logoVirginia senior offensive tackle Morgan Moses has been named to the prestigious 2013 Outland Trophy Watch List, an award that goes to the best interior lineman in college football, as selected by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA). Moses makes the watch list for the second season in a row.

oses (Richmond, Va.) enters 2013 as a preseason All-American (fourth team) courtesy of the Phil Steele Preseason list. The senior offensive tackle has started 31 games for the Cavaliers on the offensive line and is one of 70 active FBS football players entering 2013 with at least 30 career starts.

Moses is one of 11 players from the ACC that is represented on the preseason watch list of 75 players and is one of four offensive tackles from the ACC.  Cameron Erving (Florida State), James Hurst (North Carolina) and Brandon Thomas (Clemson) are offensive tackles that join Moses on the list.

The Outland Trophy winner is chosen from three finalists who are part of the FWAA All-America team. The FWAA All-America Committee, after voting input from the entire membership, selects the 25-man team and eventually the three Outland finalists to be named on Nov. 25. Committee members, then by individual ballot, select the winner.

The Outland Trophy, presented annually since 1946, is the third oldest award in major college football. The winner of the 68th Outland Trophy, named after the late John Outland, an All-America lineman at Penn at the turn of the century, will be announced on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 12 on ESPN.

The Outland Trophy presentation banquet, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee, will be held on Jan. 9, 2014, in Omaha, Neb.
