UVA punter Lester Coleman has been added to the preseason Ray Guy Award Watch List, announced the Augusta Sports Council.

Coleman (Sr., Martinsville, Va.), earned second team All-ACC honors in 2017 and was a member of the All-ACC Academic team. He finished 2017 ranked No. 4 in the ACC with 43.8 yards per punt. Coleman led the ACC with 23 punts of 50 yards or more and was No. 2 in the ACC and No. 7 in the nation with 29 punts inside the 20. Of his 29 punts inside the 20-yard line, 16 were downed inside the 10. He set a UVA single-season record with six punts of 60 yards or more in 2017. Coleman is also a nominee for the Allstate Good Works team.

In November, the Ray Guy Award committee will meet to select the 10 semifinalists, who will be announced on Nov. 15. A national body of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) sports information directors, media representatives and previous Ray Guy Award winners will then vote for the top three finalists to be announced on Nov. 20. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN on Thurs., Dec. 6, 2018.
