Defensively, UVA leads the nation in third-down stops, holding opponents to just 2-of-21 (9.5%) conversions, while offensively the Hoos have converted 22-of-37 (59.5%)—both tops in the ACC. Virginia is also one of only two league teams yet to allow a sack, leads the conference in time of possession (33 minutes per game), and has committed just one turnover through two weeks of the season.
William & Mary enters Saturday’s contest off a 28-27 win over Maine, scoring the game-winning touchdown with 3:11 left. The Tribe is coming off a 7-5 campaign in 2024, its fourth straight winning season—the program’s longest such streak since 1992-99.

Halftime recap: UVA 42, W&M 7
Virginia scored five rushing touchdowns and piled up 457 yards of offense in getting out to a 42-7 lead on overmatched William & Mary at halftime.
Chandler Morris was 13-of-19 passing for 149 yards and a TD.
Morris left the game late in the second quarter with a 35-7 lead.
Backup Daniel Kaelin is 2-of-4 for 65 yards through the air.
The ground game put up 243 yards, with Noah Vaughn, who left in the second quarter after taking a hard tackle on his right knee, gaining 101 yards on eight carries.
The D held the W&M offense to 100 total yards, 79 of those coming on one play, a 79-yard TD pass from Tyler Hughes to Deven Thompson, on what looked like busted coverage on the back end.
