UVA Football senior Jonas Sanker was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week on Monday, his third weekly honor in the 2024 season.

Sanker had five tackles, four in the run game, an interception and a blocked field goal in the 24-19 win at then-#18 Pitt on Saturday night.

Two of the tackles went down as tackles for loss.

Sanker allowed two receptions on four pass targets on 52 pass-coverage snaps, and had a 32.3 NFL passer rating against.

On three consecutive plays in the third quarter, Sanker recorded a TFL to force fourth down, blocked a field goal and recorded an interception on Pitt’s first play of the ensuing drive.

The Cavaliers trailed by six when Sanker blocked the kick and scored the go-ahead touchdown on the next possession.

Sanker returned the INT 45 yards into the red zone to help set up what proved to be the game-winning score.
