UVA Football, fans pitching in to assist Hurricane Helene relief efforts

UVA Football is teaming up with with ALCOVA Mortgage, Hilldrup and Cav Futures to collect items to assist Hurricane Helene relief efforts in the state of North Carolina.

Donations can be brought to Scott Stadium East and West parking lots beginning at 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday ahead of the Virginia-North Carolina football game.

In addition, items will also be collected in the lower Disharoon Park lot on Friday between 7-9 a.m. and 3-8 p.m. as well as Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Saturday drop-off locations


  • East Gate – Geldard Drive behind AFC
  • West Gate – Alderman Road next to Gooch Houses
  • Disharoon Park – Lower Lot

Requested items (must be new items)


  • Toiletries (toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, toilet paper)
  • First Aid supplies
  • Cleaning supplies (paper towels, trash bags, bleach, gloves)
  • Baby items (baby wipes, diapers, formula)
  • Dog/cat food
  • Flashlights, batteries, coolers, shovels

About the local relief effort


Hilldrup will provide the drivers and a 53-foot trailer for the supplies to be transported to North Carolina. ALCOVA Mortgage and Cav Futures will lead the collection efforts at the designated drop-off points.

The items collected in association with UVA Football will benefit the United Way of Forsyth (UWForsyth.org). For those looking for additional ways to help, UW Forsyth encourages you to make hurricane relief contributions to the UW Helps NC Fund, which was initiated by United Way of North Carolina. This fund is designed to support both immediate and long-term recovery efforts in communities impacted by the recent severe weather.
