The media, in the preseason, had Duke sixth, and Virginia 14th, in their look at the 2025 ACC Football race.
The computers have the two set to meet on Nov. 15 in Durham with a spot in the ACC Championship Game on the line.
Duke (4-2, 3-0 ACC) jumped nine spots in the ESPN Football Power Index, to 33, after their 45-21 win at Cal (FPI: 79) late Saturday night – early Sunday morning ET.
Virginia (5-1, 3-0 ACC), which moved to #19 in this week’s AP Top 25, somehow dropped three spots, to 36, after winning at previously unbeaten Louisville (FPI: 37).
Makes no sense to me, either.

But anyway, this FPI thing tells us that Duke would be, at the moment, favored in all but one of its remaining six games – and would only be a slight road ‘dog at Clemson on Nov. 1.
The ‘Hoos, meanwhile, are only dogs in one of their final six – that Nov. 15 game at Duke.
Georgia Tech (5-0, 2-0 ACC), currently ranked 13th in the AP poll, is a road ‘dog at Duke on Oct. 18.
Second-ranked Miami (5-0, 1-0 ACC), is the prohibitive favorite to win the ACC – the FPI puts UM’s chance at 55.7 percent.
Duke is second, at 17.4; UVA is third, at 16.0.
Tickets are available on the Duke Athletics website starting at $32, and I’m seeing them starting at $23 on the resale sites.
My recommendation: buy now.
