UVA connection leads Ravens to Monday Night Football win

ravensVirginia alum Matt Schaub threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns, and another UVA alum, Brent Urban, blocked a potential game-winning field goal that led to a 64-yard TD return by Will Hill on the game’s final play, leading the Baltimore Ravens to a 33-27 win over the Cleveland Browns on Monday night.

Schaub, getting his first start in Baltimore after Joe Flacco went down last week with a season-ending knee injury, was 20-for-34 passing for 232 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a third quarter Browns touchdown.

The Ravens, missing eight projected offensive starters due to injuries, gained 336 total yards with their patchwork offense under the direction of Schaub, making his first NFL start in two seasons.

Urban, a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft, was making his NFL debut after missing the first 26 games of his career due to injuries.

The 6’7”, 295-pounder broke through the line on what could have been a game-winning 51-yard field-goal attempt by Travis Coons and got his left hand on the low line drive.

The ball bounded to Hill, who raced down the left sideline for the kicksix with zeroes on the game clock.
