Vozenilek_Alec_13MUVA football head coach Mike London has announced that he has named senior punter Alec Vozenilek a special teams captain for the 2014 season. Vozenilek joins previously announced captains Henry Coley, Anthony Harris, Greyson Lambert and Kevin Parks.
“Alec is a guy that is one of the main cogs in our leadership council,” said London. “We put Alec on scholarship awhile back. It brings us joy to be able to award scholarships to walk-ons that come into the program and succeed not only on the field, but in the classroom and in the community too.”
Vozenilek (Richmond, Va.) enters his third season as UVa’s primary punter. After an injury to placekicker Ian Frye in the fourth game of 2013, Vozenilek pulled double duty the rest of the season. Vozenilek finished the season with 13 punts of more than 50 yards and was No. 3 in the ACC with 23 punts downed inside the 20-yard line.  He went 12-of-15 on field goal attempts, including making a career-high four at Maryland. Vozenilek is listed as a preseason All-ACC punter by various publications.
