UVA baseball not making up midweek games: Focus on ACC

Chris Graham

uva baseballIt was announced Monday that UVA will not be making up two early-season games that were lost to bad weather.

Games with VCU and George Washington were lost early on due to snow and unseasonably cold weather. The programs weren’t able to come up with mutually agreeable dates for getting the games in, according to a press release from the UVA baseball program sent out yesterday.

It’s doubtful that wins over VCU (137 RPI) and GW (171 RPI) would help the ‘Hoos (RPI 37) improve their NCAA Tournament resume.

Virginia has weekend series with ACC foes Duke and UNC sandwiched around a midweek game next week with Richmond to finish out the 2015 regular season.

The Cavs are 10-14 in ACC play, putting them 11th in the ACC, which has 10 spots in its conference tournament.

Seven teams between fifth and 11th are right now within two games of each other in the conference standings with two weekends to go in the regular season. UVA presumably needs to go 4-2 down the stretch to punch its ticket to Durham later this month, and also presumably keep its hopes for an NCAA bid alive.
