Fans can receive discounted tickets for the game by logging on to Nationals.com/tickets. After selecting the Sept. 9 game, enter the coupon code “UVA” and click “apply.”

The UVa team will be honored during a pregame ceremony, while head coach Brian O’Connor will be interviewed on the video board after the second inning.

A pair of former Cavaliers will be in opposing dugouts in the game that evening, Nationals infielder/outfielder Ryan Zimmerman and Braves infielder Phil Gosselin. Zimmerman played at Virginia from 2003-05, while Gosselin competed at UVa from 2008-10 and was a member of the Cavaliers’ first CWS team in 2009.

Virginia went 53-16 in 2014 while finishing as the national runner-up. UVa reached the College World Series Finals for the first time in program history while earning the program’s third CWS berth in the last six seasons.

UVa won NCAA regional and super regional championships on its home field before capturing its bracket in the CWS to advance to the finals series. Virginia then dropped a thrilling championship series, two games to one, to Vanderbilt in its bid for the program’s first national title.
