Odds and Ends
• Virginia owns the fourth-most wins away from home (road/neutral games) in Division I this season (19).
• UVa is No. 33 in the latest NCAA RPI for 2015 (Old Dominion is No. 121).
• Eleven of Virginia’s 17 losses have come by two runs or fewer, including seven by one run.
• In the five games last week, UVa’s starting pitchers combined to go 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA and .204 opponent batting average.
• Daniel Pinero has reached base safely in each of his last 14 games.
• UVa is 6-5 this season against in-state foes and 110-23 during Brian O’Connor’s tenure.

Thaiss Named ACC Player of Week
Matt Thaiss had perhaps his best week in a Virginia uniform last week, going 11-for-23 (.478) with four doubles, a homer and 11 RBI. He had seven hits in the NC State series, including a four-hit day on Sunday during the doubleheader with the Wolfpack. He reached base safely in over half his plate appearances, with a .538 on-base percentage.

Thaiss now leads the team in batting at .342 (12th in the ACC).

Coman Continues Hot Stretch
Robbie Coman is riding a career-long eight-game hit streak. Coman is batting .426 (20-for-47) over his last 12 games. He leads the team in on-base percentage (.481) and hits during that span. Coman has raised his batting average nearly 90 points in that stretch – he was batting .208 heading into the Georgia Tech series and now is batting .294.

Coman was 5-for-10 with three walks in the NC State series.

Virginia-ODU Series
ODU leads the series with UVa, 31-26-2. The Monarchs rocked UVa, 14-5, on March 11 in the Cavaliers’ home opener. The teams split a home-and-home series last season, including an 8-1 rout on April 29, 2014, at Harbor Park, which snapped the Monarchs’ four-game losing streak to UVa.

UVa’s last win in Norfolk came on May 16, 2006, an 11-10 triumph at ODU’s Bud Metheny Complex.

Noting Old Dominion
ODU dropped two of three games in its series at No. 18 Florida Atlantic last weekend. The Monarchs are batting .293 as a team, highlighted by P.J. Higgins at .367 and Taylor Ostrich at .325. Ostrich also has driven in a team-high 33 runs this season. ODU also owns a 4.71 team ERA.

Up Next
Virginia returns to action May 8-10 with a three-game ACC series against Duke.
