Update on Dolph Ziggler condition after concussion

Chris Graham

Dolph_zigglerThe status of Dolph Ziggler is still uncertain following a concussion suffered Monday during a match with Ryback taped for WWE Superstars.

Ziggler was injured after taking a stiff clothesline from Ryback in the match. Ziggler now has an uncomfortable history with concussions. After suffering a concussion during a match last May that put him on the shelf for several weeks, Ziggler admitted in an interview with WWE.com that he had suffered several concussions in the past.

With one of the keys to Ziggler’s top-shelf in-ring work being his ability to sell moves from his opponents, this history of concussions could have long-term repercussions on his career.

In the interim, according to WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann, Ziggler was evaluated by a neuropsychologist on Thursday, undergoing ImPACT testing and balance testing.

“Fortunately all of those tests appear to be equivocal to baseline and within normal limits,” Amman said. “His symptoms have improved significantly since the injury on Monday, so our plan right now is to have him continue to rest, and when he is asymptomatic have him start doing some light cardiovascular exercise, and if that goes OK, we will proceed with our exertional protocol.”
