Two injured, including Virginia state trooper, in South Boston crash

A Virginia state trooper suffered minor injuries in a crash at the intersection of Broad Street and Webster Street in South Boston that sent a second person to a hospital.

The trooper, identified in a press release from Virginia State Police as R. Compton, was treated and released for his injuries in the 8:06 a.m. accident.

The driver of the second vehicle reported failed to yield at a stop sign.

The driver, unnamed in the press release, was airlifted to Duke Hospital with serious injuries.
