road-work-headerA portion of southbound Route 11 (Valley Pike) is open to passenger vehicles only, due to damage to the truss bridge over Cedar Creek at the Warren-Shenandoah county line. The damage was sustained Monday afternoon when a truck hit a portion of the bridge railing.

Southbound commercial vehicles on Route 11 will detour by turning left onto Route 627 (Reliance Road) at Middletown in Frederick County, right onto Interstate 81 southbound and then rejoin Route 11 by taking exit 298 at Strasburg.

Passenger cars will be restricted to the left lane of Route 11 and will have a reduced speed limit of 25 miles an hour. Emergency vehicles will also have access to Route 11 in this area.

Contractors are scheduled to begin repairs to the Cedar Creek bridge on Tuesday morning. Route 11 is expected to reopen to all traffic late Friday, August 21. All work is weather permitting.
