Update: Interstate 81 SB in Rockbridge County now open at exit 200 after crash

According to VDOT, Both lanes of southbound I-81 have reopened. Be alert for lingering congestion.

 

The Virginia Department of Transportation is reporting that Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County is closed due to a crash involving multiple vehicles.

According to VDOT, Southbound I-81 is closed south of Fairfield (exit 200).

A detour will be set up. There is a four-mile backup at this time.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
