Traffic Alert: Berkmar Drive will be repaved this week

Chris Graham

road-work-headerPaving work will be done on Berkmar Drive in Albemarle County from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday and Wednesday through Friday. The work will be done between West Rio Road and Route 29. Motorists should be alert for lane closures and changes in the traffic pattern. Traffic through the work zone will be controlled by flaggers and brief delays are likely.

On Sunday night the pavement will be milled to remove the existing surface. On Wednesday and Thursdaynights the new asphalt travel surface will be placed and pavement markings will be applied. If any of the night work is rained out the work will be completed overnight Friday and early Saturday morning.

Motorists should be alert for directional signs and traffic controls as they approach the work zone, slow down and be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes.

Information about Culpeper District activities that will affect traffic is also available on Twitter at @VaDOTCULP and on VDOT’s website at: www.virginiadot.org/travel/travel_alerts/culpeper/default.asp.
