A report circulating today has AMC Networks interested in purchasing WWE. According to the Betaville blog, AMC has had at least one exploratory conversation with WWE regarding a possible purchase, and that while those early talks didn’t go anywhere, AMC has engaged a banker in putting together a financing package.
WWE’s stock has been at long-time highs in recent weeks on the strength of the debut of WWE Network. It doesn’t seem likely that the company would look to be bought out, but WWE is a quite valuable sports-entertainment media company, and would thus be in high demand if it were to go on the market.
