The Valley’s Hidden Treasures: An Antique Appraisal Show

Have you ever wondered about the value of a family heirloom, a flea market bargain, or a long lost item salvaged from your attic or basement? The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library in conjunction with Bonhams Auction House just may be able to provide you with an answer. Part history, part treasure hunt, just bring your items in to the Wilson Library and Research Center, 235 East Beverley St. in Staunton, Virginia, Saturday June 22^nd from 10:00am – 4:00 pm and find out the value of your hidden treasure.

The value of an item is dependent upon many factors including its condition, market trends, and the location where the object is sold. The value of a particular item may be stated as either wholesale, at auction or retail, or for “insurance purposes”. The values given by our panel of Bonhams experts will be “at auction” or retail values and are verbal approximations of value or opinions formed from their knowledge of antiques and collectables, market trends, and other factors. Although the valuations are based on research and experience, opinions can and often do vary among experts.

The Bonhams name is recognized worldwide throughout all sectors of the fine art, antiques and collectors market, with several of its departments established world leaders within their specialist category. The panel of experts appearing in Staunton on June 22^ndincludes Bonhams Director of US Jewelry, Susan Abeles, Karl Green the Director of Furniture and Decorative Arts for Bonhams New York, Tom Lamb Director of the Books and Manuscripts Department at Bonhams, New York, Dr. Jonathan Snellenburg Director of Fine Watches and Clocks, and Alan Fausel Vice President and Director of Fine Arts at Bonhams of New York. All with international reputations in their respective specialties, many of these Appraiser have been regulars on PBS’s wildly popular television series “Antiques Roadshow”.
