Dave Koehn. The name will become familiar to UVa. sports fans in the coming months, as will the voice.

“A chance to become a part of a program like the University of Virginia which has such a rich tradition, is a tremendous honor and truly an opportunity of a lifetime. My wife and I are excited to get to Charlottesville and become a part of the University and community family,” said Koehn, who was named the new Voice of the Cavaliers today, replacing Mac McDonald, who resigned from the post earlier this year.

Koehn comes to Virginia from the University of Vermont, where he had served as the play-by-play man on the school’s men’s basketball broadcasts. The Kansas U. grad also did play-by-play for the minor-league Vermont Lake Monsters.

He will assume his new duties in Charlottesville on July 7.
