Back in town after their 15-state tour (17 shows in 45 days), The Honey Dewdrops, Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish, will appear in the Hamner Theater’s Cabaret series on Saturday, Aug. 29.
Laura Wortman and Kagey Parrish have been making music for six years. They play original and American traditional songs focusing on vocal harmonies and tight instrumentation. In 2008, they won the Prairie Home Companion’s People in Their Twenties Talent Show. Recently they’ve been playing alongside performers such as Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion, Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, Uncle Monk, and The Biscuit Burners.

On Aug. 28, they will appear in support of Jim Waive & the Young Divorcees at Charlottesville’s Fridays After Five. Their performance will feature songs from their debut record, If the Sun Will Shine, which was released in May, 2009.

The Hamner Theatre Cabaret Performance Series offers great entertainment in a dinner club setting with fine wine, beer and food. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the show begins at 7:30pm. Tickets, which include heavy hors d’oeuvres, are $20 or 2 for $35, in advance (reservations required). For information, phone 434.361.1999 or visit www.hamnertheater.com.

The Hamner Theater is a non-profit 501(c)(3) project of the Rockfish Valley Community Center in Nelson County.
