waynesboro2editsTerry Short will formally announce his candidacy for the at-large seat on Waynesboro City Council Wednesday at 7 p.m. at The French Press, a new coffee shop at 134 N. Wayne Ave., in Downtown Waynesboro.

“I’m excited to join friends and family in officially announcing my candidacy for the at-large seat on the Waynesboro City Council. This City can accomplish great things, if we embrace new ideas, a shared vision, fiscal balance, unwavering leadership and committed action. It’s time to believe in Waynesboro, and I’m ready to go,” said Short.

Short has served as chairman of the Waynesboro Planning Commission, a member of the Board of Directors for Waynesboro Downtown Development Inc., is the founder and president of the Waynesboro Arts and Culture Initiative, which produces the successful and award-winning Virginia Chili, Blues, n’ Brews Festival, numerous Waynesboro school committees, and is vice president of the Waynesboro Lions Club.

Short holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in urban planning and policy, and a professional project management certification.

He is employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation as the district planning manager for the Staunton District covering 11 counties and 34 jurisdictions.
