TED Program Receives New Vehicle

Contributors

new van pic 12 18In January 2011, SAW RD Jenn Chestnut applied for a new accessible vehicle through the Department of Rail and Public Transportation’s Section 5310 Program to support the Transportation for the Elderly and Disabled (TED) Program; Jenn was awarded the vehicle in April 2011. After almost two years of waiting for this vehicle, it finally arrived on December 12 from Sonny Merryman. The TED Program now has three accessible vehicles in its fleet; the new vehicle supports the expansion of services in Staunton.

The 5310 Program provides capital assistance of 80 percent/20 percent match. Jenn applied for funding from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge in April 2012 to cover the 20 percent match or $7,490 for the new TED vehicle.

We are thrilled to have this additional vehicle and look forward to serving more individuals in our community.
