Surprise snow causes flurry of accidents in Waynesboro

Chris Graham

snow-plow-headerThe National Weather Service forecast snow for Waynesboro on Saturday and again during the day on Monday, and aside from a few flurries the two events were duds. Then with the forecast calling for nothing, yeah, snow.

The Waynesboro Police Department responded to 19 motor vehicle wrecks between 6-9 a.m. today after the city received around an inch of the white stuff. No serious injuries were reported.  The Police Department determined that all wrecks were caused by icy road conditions.

The City’s Public Works Department crews have been out treated the roads and at this time they appear to be in good condition.  However, motorists are still encouraged to use caution on roads that do not receive direct sunlight as they may still be slick.
